Community We Protect
The Calvin Volunteer Fire Department has been the backbone of emergency services in our community for over five decades. What started as a handful of concerned citizens pooling resources to protect a growing town has grown into a professional, well-equipped team of dedicated volunteers.
Our firefighters come from every walk of life — farmers, teachers, tradespeople, and business owners. But when the alarm sounds, they are united by one purpose: keeping Calvin safe. We respond to structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disasters, always with the same commitment and courage.
From responding to active emergencies to preventing them before they start, we serve the entire Calvin community.
Rapid response to structure fires, vehicle fires, and wildland incidents with modern apparatus and trained crews on scene within minutes.
First response medical care for cardiac events, trauma, and other emergencies — bridging the gap until advanced EMS arrives.
Business and residential fire safety inspections to identify hazards, ensure code compliance, and prevent disasters before they happen.
Fire safety workshops for schools, senior centers, and community groups — teaching prevention, evacuation planning, and first aid.
Vehicle extrication, water rescue, and technical rescue capabilities with specialized equipment and ongoing advanced training.
Annual open houses, National Night Out participation, and fire prevention week activities that build trust and awareness in our community.
